Chicago Bears QB: Pivotal Comparison Looms Over Franchise

There are NFL teams looking to desperately find success. The Chicago Bears QB situation is consistently mocked and ridiculed. Regardless, when someone new is in the building, the organization and fans believe in the hope that the latest newcomer proves to be the exception. Finding a quarterback is hard, and a lot needs to go right in order for anyone to find success.

However, it seems like some organizations go out of their way to make it as difficult as humanly possible. This makes the upcoming NFL season particularly intriguing. Some argue that because of how difficult evaluating the QB position is, teams are almost forced to ride with a guy, even if it looks like it won't work out. But this can also cripple long-term success and sustainability for the organization.

Regardless, Caleb Williams will continue to be compared to Justin Fields. The latest number-one overall pick has a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Unfortunately, the outside noise will remain loud, especially if the former signal caller of the Chicago Bears ends up finding success with this new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. But this is something that the fan base needs to get over.

Because the front office correctly chose to move on from the former Ohio State product, any further success from the player needs to be ignored. Their current quarterback needs to have the full support of the team and needs to be given a clean slate. This is a place that is difficult to play in, and it's hard for rookies and second-year players to find consistent success.

However, collectively, everyone in the building decided that it was best to move forward with a different player. Any second-guessing, especially if the situation in Pittsburgh ends up looking better than what some expect, will do little good. Williams is on his own timeline, and it's in a situation unique to that of when Fields was on the field. As best as possible, he needs to be evaluated in a vacuum and given time.

Chicago Bears QB Not Likely to Turn the Corner

The Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams are going to face a lot of scrutiny. But will the comparisons to Justin Fields prove to be too much?

This shifting mindset needs to particularly happen in the Windy City because of what is likely to be a difficult season. It's nearly impossible to tell who will be able to make the jump from college to pro, but taking away any unnecessary distractions and noise is essential. Certainly, fans and the media will always have this question in the back of their minds and voice their opinion.

But that doesn't matter. Anything that the organization can do to improve the situation for their new quarterback will prove to be beneficial. Moreover, if you're rooting for this team, then it's probably best to think twice before voicing it and before adding to what is sure to be a wall of sound of condemnation and regret in regards to Fields no longer playing for this team.

It's impossible to know how the former USC QB will play in the NFL. There are legitimate concerns and, at the very least, question marks that emerged, particularly in his senior season. But whether you have the Chicago Bears somehow winning the division or winning three games, comparing Williams and Fields is ultimately a useless exercise for productive discussion.
